Purpose of Your Job Position

The primary purpose of your position is to provide direct nursing care (treatments) to the residents with treatment orders and to manage the overall wound program.  All care must be in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines, regulations and laws that govern our facility.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing
  • Current licensure form the State of California
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Promotes/protects resident rights
  • Complies with abuse prevention & reporting policies and procedures
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements
  • Works efficiently to complete assignments and meet deadlines
  • Follows instructions carefully.  Discusses deviation from procedures with supervisor before acting
  • Maintains confidentiality of resident care and employee issues
  • Uses chain of command to communicate problems or grievances
  • Participates in staff meetings and mandatory in-service as required
  • Other duties as specifically assigned in writing by supervisor
  • Is present for work as scheduled; is rarely absent.  Notifies supervisor when absent prior to the start of shift
  • Arrives and leaves at schedule time
  • Adheres to break and lunch times
  • Works overtime only as authorized.

Experience:

  • Experience in the care of adult, chronically ill and/or geriatric persons
  • Preferably one or more years experience and demonstrated ability in nursing supervision in health care facility.
  • Knowledge of and ability to provide basic principles of nursing care and techniques.

  • Professional responsibility in nursing situations and nursing techniques
  • Ability to direct, supervise, and utilize abilities and efforts of ancillary staff
  • Good working relationship with residents, visitors, physicians, and personnel
  • Ability to organize and coordinate activities

SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Administer and document treatments in compliance with facility policy and procedure
  • Ensures documentation is complete and legible at all times
  • Performs tests, treatments, and procedures as ordered by the physician and in accordance written plan of care.
  • Prepare residents for and assist with as needed, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, treatments, and examinations
  • Makes rounds with visiting physicians for examination of wounds as needed, completes appropriate follow-up to new orders, revising plan of care, etc.
  • Report change of condition to physician and families. Follow up on orders and document
  • Communicates residents’ condition and nursing care to appropriate people’ i.e., supervisor, administrator, physician, family, etc.)
  • Completes weekly assessment with Consultant of all wounds, pressure areas.
  • Makes recommendations on improving policies and procedures to improve resident outcome
  • Monitors CNA performance as related to resident care and wound management, responding with appropriate correction or teaching.
  • Follows incident/accident policy for appropriate response, recording and reporting
  • Assist with teaching residents, families, and personnel, and supervises resident practice of activities
  • Responds to and directs care in emergency situations using good judgment and established policies and procedures
  • Assures cleanliness and order of the nursing stations
